Do you know what your purpose is, and do you feel incapable or incompetent of achieving it? Well, you are not alone.
The things God calls us to do will often feel too big for us. The reason for this is that God gives us a purpose based on who He has created us to be and who He knows we are becoming.
So, He matches how He sees us with what He calls us to do. However, because we sometimes see ourselves through the lens of our failures and limitations, it becomes difficult to see ourselves as possessing the qualities required to step into our purpose.
I have three encouragements that will help you to step into your purpose. The first one is that God will not call you into spaces that He has not equipped you to occupy.
So even if you don't feel like you have what it takes, the truth is that you will not know that you have been equipped until you make a move.
Also, you will not know you have already been equipped until you are in the position that requires you to use your gifts.
The second thing that I want you to know is that God will give you the strength and power to achieve your purpose. Indeed, some of the things that God has called us to do will be things that we are incapable of doing on our own power.
In these times you need to know that the power to do the things that God has called you to do will come from the empowering of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible says in Psalm 18:32 that it is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. What David is saying here is that in his own might, he could do nothing, but it is God that gives him the strength for battle.
For example, on most days I know I don't have what it takes to be a good mother, however, with God's help I am a great mother because I reach for His empowerment and wisdom on how to love my children the way He loves them.
The final point I want you to note is that God will help you in whatever He has called you to do. I find this very comforting because it is so easy to think that you will be alone. But I want you to know that God will be with you every step of the way.
Psalm 18:34 tells us that it is God that teaches his hands to make war so that his hands can bend a bow of bronze.
I am so fired up by this. Because it tells me that, God uses us to do great things despite our inabilities and incapacities and in the areas where we fall short, He will be there to teach us and help us.
One thing that is certain is that we all need help. As we see from the text David was only able to achieve all that he did with the help of God.
So be encouraged that God will not leave you alone to figure things out by yourself. That's why He has given you the holy spirit to empower and help you.
I don’t know about you, but I don't want to only achieve the things that I am capable of.
I find it a joy to know that God is able to do exceedingly above and beyond what I can think or even imagine, according to the power that works in me (Ephesians 3:20).
So look to God for the things that you have disqualified yourself from being able to achieve and He will empower you to achieve them.
